Frequently Asked Questions

    • Tuition Fees

    • When are fees due?

Term fees are payable in advance and are due by the second enrolled lesson. This secures you/your child’s lesson in their class or with their private teacher. A late payment fee of $20 is payable on any overdue accounts to cover our extra administration costs.

Our financial term is slightly offset vs the school term. This means that your current invoice will always include the first 3 weeks (if learning privately) or 2 weeks (if in class lessons) of the new school term. We have made a calendar so that it’s a little clearer.

    • How do I pay?

You can pay over the phone or at school with cash or card (sorry, we don’t accept AMEX).

You can also pay online via direct credit : BSB 064 173 Ac No: 10456138 Loud Music Pty Ltd. Please remember to include your Sale ID or student’s full name as your reference.

    • Can I split my payment?

Yes you can. We offer payment plans via EziDebit. Please speak to one of our reception staff about organising a payment schedule to suit you.

    • Do you offer refunds / credits?

No refunds or credits are given for missed lessons without prior notice.

We require 4 weeks’ written notice to cancel lessons – any fees already paid for lessons falling after these 4 weeks will be refunded to you. Provided you notify us prior to missing a lesson (by 9am for morning lessons or 12 noon for afternoon lessons) we offer 2 make-up lessons per school term.

    • Billing Period

At Forte Toowong we bill by the financial term, which runs into the 2nd week of the next school term. This is to ensure you your current time, teacher and day. Your lessons will be billed until the end of that period.

All lessons are billed per term going forward, so please let us know if you are not continuing into the next term.

    • Missed Lessons

    • What happens if we’re sick?

We understand that this happens and we support your decision to stay away from the school until you are well again. In order to make this less stressful, we offer 2 make-up lessons per school term. To qualify for these you must give us a call before 9am for morning lessons or before 12 noon for afternoon lessons. Unfortunately we are unable to offer make-ups for late cancellations as we still have to pay your teacher for the missed lesson.

    • What happens I I/my child lose interest

We require a four week written cancellation notice, so just get in touch – email is best – and we will finalise your account. Fees for lessons during this 4 week period are still payable, but any additional lessons will be refunded.

    • Are there lessons during the holidays?

Lessons ARE held on pupil free days but not on public holidays.

During state school holidays we are closed for group classes but are open in the last week of the holiday for private lessons. If you are not able to attend your private lesson during this week, please let us know in advance and we are happy to organise a make-up for you.

    • About The Lessons

    • Can I change my lesson time?

Absolutely. We have over 30 music specialists working on our team and our timetable extends from Monday to Saturday 8am – 8pm (close at 3pm on Saturdays). We are able to offer you a number of options if your current time doesn’t suit, and you can do this at any point.

    • What instruments do you teach?

We teach a broad range of vocal and instrumental lessons including : voice, piano, guitar, ukulele, drums, violin, cello, flute, clarinet and saxophone.

    • Do you teach music theory?

We integrate age appropriate music theory into all of our class and private instrumental lessons. We also offer specialist music theory lessons for those students who would like to explore this in more depth. Please speak to our reception staff if this interests you.

    • Who is my teacher?

Our teachers are not only expert tutors but are also skilled musicians in their own right. To find out more about your teacher please get in touch.

    • Do you offer exams?

Although we do not require students to sit exams, we find that the majority find this a really rewarding way to get to know their instrument, ensure that their skills are progressing and gain a sense of accomplishment.

There are a number of different exam pathways : Forte’s own Foundation Exams for beginning piano students, AMEB exams for voice and all instruments and ROCKSCHOOL exams for guitar and drums.

Please speak to your teacher to discuss which option is best for you/your child.
